Hospital Program

Hospital Resources:

The goal of the Hospital & VAVS program is to meet the needs of hospitalized patients in VA Medical Centers and other hospitals throughout this country. With the influx of this generation’s veterans and the rise in long-term rehabilitative services, there is a greater need for volunteers. However, the type of help needed is changing. Be sure to speak with your local VAVS Representative to find out how you can serve these special veterans.

In 1928 Volunteer Hospital work became the second National Program adopted by the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. As America’s troops return from battle and aging warriors need medical attention, the Auxiliary has been there to assist with a cheerful smile, an encouraging word, and time to write or read a letter from loved ones. The organization volunteers 1.8 million hours a year.

Auxiliary Members:
Attached please find picture collage of this year’s School Bag Project.  I believe we donated a total of 35 school bags to Vash Veteran Families for their students to stop off this year’s school year with a little smile on their face, and a school bag on their backs.
My sincere thanks and appreciation to Pelham, Hudson, Merrimack, Derry, Concord & Franklin Auxiliaries in addition to several individual members of these Auxiliaries who also did bags on their own, as well as VFW Concord & Lew Chipola from Nashua VFW and Gene Carter from Pelham VFW. Thank you all for taking time to “volunteer” outside that box and shop for these items and making sure they were all collected in time for the case workers to deliver before the school bells rang for the beginning of school. As always, Job well done!  Thank you.
